The Brief:

Taree Universities Campus was an exciting new concept introduced in Taree, NSW under the Regional University Centres Program, where a site is developed to support students undertaking university study via distance education in order to improve graduation rates, particularly in regional areas in Australia.

TUC needed everything required to launch a concept - logo & branding, website, print marketing material, digital marketing & social media.


The Logo

The logo needed to feel connected to the area (and not imported and tweaked). I designed the logo to focus around the idea of a bridge - particularly the Martin Bridge at the entrance to the CBD of Taree. Bridges are also a great metaphor for ‘bridging the gap’ between distance education students and their potential futures, as well as connecting those students to the resources they needed to succeed.


The Website

The TUC website needed to speak to a number of needs:

  • Make the idea of University study via distance education seem achievable and tangible

  • Introduce the Campus concept and make clear it’s benefits & features

  • Convert browsers into students via expressions of interest forms, to be followed up on and documented

  • Host additional marketing material to showcase the ongoing progress of the project and to further educate around the idea of university study.

Website features

  • Built in Squarespace, allowing for easy collaboration between myself, videographers, TUC admin team members and other content creators

  • Directory of courses offered, with the option to request a different area of study. All these forms are linked to databases which automatically update, allowing for easy follow-ups and conversions into enrolled students

  • Podcast library - 6 Degrees of Study - with excerpts & clickthrough to individual episode pages. This is set up using Squarespace’s blog feature, with each page showing an Episode overview, embedded audio, links to podcast platforms and transcript.

  • News library to showcase media releases, features on local news platforms and more. Again, super easy for admin team members to access & update.

  • Instagram gallery feed in the footer that automatically updates with fresh content, giving browsers a reason to connect on other platforms.

  • Success page for after form submissions, which also links through to Facebook & Instagram, an easy way to encourage further connection after entering details into a contact form.
