How I Helped Launch Fish'N Out West with a Seamless Online Ordering System

Fish'N Out West is a new business that recently took over a well-loved local venue in Blacktown, NSW.

With a loyal customer base built by the previous owners, the challenge for the new owners—who happen to be my little brothers—was keeping that trust while establishing a fresh brand with its own personality.

I helped Fish'N Out West develop a bold new look, streamline their operations, and build a seamless online ordering system, all while creating a brand that feels like a Sunday afternoon with your mates.

The Challenge: Retaining Loyal Customers While Introducing a New Brand

Taking over an established business is never easy, especially when the previous owners had built such strong relationships with their community. My brothers needed a website and brand that maintained the high standards customers expected, while also introducing their own fun, tongue-in-cheek style.

The goal? Create a visual and digital identity that felt like a family BBQ—friendly, casual, and a bit cheeky—while making sure the business ran as smoothly as possible from the back-of-house to the front.

The other key element was ensuring the website integrated seamlessly with their POS system (Square), as well as delivery platforms like UberEats and DoorDash. For a fast-paced food business, managing stock, orders, and deliveries all in one place was critical for maintaining efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The Solution: A Seamless Online Ordering Experience with a Bold New Look

Fish'N Out West’s website was my first complete build on Square, and it was a fantastic learning experience. With Square’s platform, I was able to integrate their in-house POS system, which centralised menu updates, stock management, and online orders from both UberEats and DoorDash.

This made life so much easier for the team, allowing them to update everything in as few locations as possible without worrying about inconsistencies across platforms. It streamlined their workflow, creating a seamless customer experience both online and in-store.

Beyond the tech, I developed the logo, brand, and all printed materials for the business, including magnets and menus. I also set up their social media profiles, managed an initial content dump with posts 2-3 times a day for 30 days, and created templates for ongoing use. To top it off, I worked with a photographer (who happens to be our sister!) to ensure the brand visuals were professional and cohesive across every touchpoint.

What I Loved About This Project

Watching my brothers transition from ‘little bros’ to business owners was such a buzz. Seeing them step up, build something of their own, and carry forward a family business was a huge personal highlight for me. Plus, being able to be brutally honest when they were dragging their feet was a rare client perk! 😜

More than anything, I love seeing people find freedom and fulfilment through creating their own path. This project wasn’t just about a website—it was about building confidence, a clear message, and a brand that feels 100% theirs. I can’t wait to pop into Blacktown for some free burgers soon! 🍔
