Sporties Tuncurry—Building a Unique Online Presence for a Sister Club

Sporties Tuncurry is the sister club to Club Forster, located in the neighbouring suburb of Tuncurry.

While the two clubs are connected under the same management, Sporties needed its own distinct online presence to better engage with loyal patrons and regulars.

The challenge? Many visitors didn’t even realise the two clubs were part of the same business, and their shared website domain didn’t help clarify that connection.

When I came on board, both clubs were operating under the clubforster.com.au domain. The task at hand was to create a unique identity for Sporties Tuncurry while maintaining a brand-level connection to Club Forster. Here’s how we did it.

The Challenge: Establishing Independence While Staying Connected

For years, both Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry had been operating with a shared online presence. However, each club has its own vibe, its own loyal patrons, and its own unique offerings. The challenge was to design a dedicated website for Sporties that reflected its individuality while making sure the public understood the connection between the two clubs.

At the same time, much of the marketing and operational structure that we had established for Club Forster needed to be replicated for Sporties, but in a way that was customised to their specific needs. This project was about getting the balance right—giving Sporties its own platform while still tying it back to the Club Forster brand.

The Solution: A Unique Yet Connected Website

We built Sporties Tuncurry’s website on Squarespace, much like we did for Club Forster, ensuring a consistent platform while giving Sporties a tailored design. The new website features a cohesive look and feel that aligns with the Club Forster brand, but with a unique twist that highlights Sporties’ offerings. 🏌️‍♂️🍻

The website includes clear links between the two clubs, making it easy for patrons to understand that while the clubs may operate separately, they are part of the same family. This not only clarified the connection but also helped drive traffic between the two sites.

Streamlining Marketing Operations

As with Club Forster, we streamlined Sporties’ marketing operations to make everything run more smoothly and efficiently. Using tools like Trello, we set up a rolling 12-month marketing strategy that captures all the details of their annual and one-off promotions—from social media post scheduling to task allocation for each event. Later was also introduced for social media planning, allowing posts to be scheduled months in advance, ensuring consistent engagement with their audience.

To keep on-brand designs rolling smoothly, I also trained the team on Canva, enabling them to create professional-looking signage, flyers, and social posts without needing to rely on external designers. This has helped Sporties maintain a consistent, polished image across all platforms, even for last-minute jobs.

What I Loved About This Project

Working on Sporties Tuncurry’s website was a fantastic opportunity to blend the best of both worlds—creating a unique identity for the club while maintaining a clear and cohesive connection to Club Forster. The project not only helped to clarify the relationship between the two clubs but also streamlined Sporties’ marketing efforts, ensuring they can operate efficiently for years to come.

The trust that Sporties placed in my process meant we were able to implement the best tools and systems available to maximise their reach and streamline their workflow. I’m thrilled with how the website turned out and look forward to seeing the benefits it brings to Sporties and their patrons!
