How to Ask for A Sale (Without Being Salesy)

How to Ask for A Sale (Without Being Salesy)

Are you feeling like you're tipping tonnes of time and energy into your marketing and have nothing to show for it? Something you may be missing is a strong CTA (or Call-To-Action)

I want to show you how this simple technique can make all the difference in you seeing tangible results from your marketing efforts.

What is a CTA? A CTA is when you give your audience - i.e. potential customers - a very specific direction to take towards doing business with you. It's a way of encouraging them to take immediate action after engaging with some part of your marketing.

A CTA doesn't necessarily have to be a direct 'buy this thing now' pitch. But it does need to have a very specific goal that leads to a measurable result.

Every small business has marketing goals (even if you haven’t really sat down and written them out!). Some examples of goals are:

  • Identifying potential customers

  • Identifying which of your products your audience might be interested in

  • Identifying who is ready to do business now

  • How to use your happy customers to convert more potential customers.

Here's what each of these might look like in practical terms:

Sharing experiences to find potential customers

  • Comment below this post if you can relate to this

  • Comment an emoji below that shows me how you feel about this

  • Running a poll on your Instagram stories for group feedback

  • Sending out an email and asking them to reply with their thoughts and experiences.

Direct Sale

  • Direct links to products & services on your website

  • Request a quote or Book an appointment

These are important too, so it's crystal clear on how easy it is to do business with you.

Sharing to reach more potential customers

  • Tag a friend in the comments below who needs to see this post.

  • Forward this email to a friend who would find this helpful.

  • Sharing testimonials from happy customers is a great way to prove to others that they should get on board.

CTAs are about ensuring you're not wasting the effort you're putting into your marketing efforts, by giving potential customers a clear direction to move forward, which also gives you clearer metrics to measure for success.

Here’s what you can do next:

Now, a lot of these concepts are very easy to implement IF you have access to, and control of, your website. If you don't, I have a great resource for you to get started with.
